Fargo South led from start to finish as they picked up a hard fought 63-48 road win at Jamestown on Tuesday night. South put 4 different players in double figures as the Bruin balance showed itself throughout the night. Early on it was Jenna Lee with the hot hand as the senior nailed a pair of three pointers, including one on the first possession of the game to get South off to a quick start. Nicki Brodeur also scored early, as she made a three point play on a strong drive to the basket. Alicia Stensgard got inside as well, and went 4-4 from the line and Cammi Greenheck scored a short baseline jumper right before a shot clock buzzer, and the Bruins took a 19-11 lead after one quarter. In the second quarter, the Bruin defense was on display, as South only gave up 2 baskets, one of which was a shot right before the halftime buzzer. On offense, Jenna Lee nailed another three pointer, and Ali Stensgard scored on two more strong inside baskets. South took a 30-17 halftime lead. The third quarter was a high scoring affair for both teams as both teams made runs. South got out early in the third on the strength of their inside game. Kirsten Pattison scored 7 points all on nice post feeds, Ali Stensgard dropped in a pair of hoops, and Jenna Lee also scored on a post up. Midway through the period, the Bruins had extended their lead to 44-25 and seemed to be in control. However, the Jays were not going to go down without a fight. Morgan Dale scored a three point play, and Madey Hornung and Claycee Olson both hit three pointers to cut into South's lead. After 3 quarters, South held a 48-36 lead. The Bruins continued to work the interior game in the final quarter as well. Kirsten Pattison scored 7 more points in the lane, Ali Stensgard hit a basket inside, and Amy Stroup got to the freethrow line and cashed in on both tosses. South used this inside power to maintain a "safe" lead on the Jays, as the lead never dipped under double figures, and South came away with the road win. The win was a big bounceback win for South and moves the Bruins to 13-4 overall, and 13-3 in the EDC. Kirsten Pattison led South with 16 points and joining her in double figure scoring were Jenna Lee with 15, Ali Stensgard with 14, and Nicki Brodeur with 10. Next action for the Bruins is next Tuesday when they travel to Valley City.
