Bruins hit century mark in win over Valley City
Valley City scored the first basket of the game, but it was all Fargo South after that as they rolled up their second most points ever in a 100-34 win over the Hi-Liners on Thursday night in the Bruin gym. The Bruins full court pressure got the Bruins going early, as they built a 28-7 lead with just over ten minutes left in the half. Siri Burck, Meghan Roehrich, and Alley Fisher all hit three pointers against the zone of the Hi-Liners to help open up the inside game, where Amy Stroup and Kristen Anstadt did their damage. The big key to the Bruins stroung game though, was their consistent effort on grabbing offensive rebounds. The Bruins grabbed 19 offensive rebounds in the opening half, and finished with an amazing 41 offensive rebounds on the night on their way to a 68 rebound game. South took a 51-16 lead into halftime. In the second, the Bruins played 16 different players, 11 of whom scored. South put 5 players in double figures in a game where nobody played more than 22 minutes. Siri Burck led South with 19 points, while Caitlyn Haring had 13 assists and 8 rebounds. The win moves South to 9-0 in the EDC, and 9-3 overall. Next action for South is Tuesday night when they travel to Shanley in a battle of the leagues top two teams.
