Bruins move on to Semi-finals

Fargo South's went on a 20-0 run in the opening half to open up a tight game against scrappy Jamestown, and posted a 65-49 win to advance to Friday afternoon's semi-final matchup against 6 time defending champion Mandan. After picking up 2 quick fouls and sitting out a few minutes, Meghan Roehrich came back in and scored 10 points in that run, hitting a pair of three pointers in the process to give South some breathing room. South also had some nice fast break baskets, including a beautiful 60 foot pass from Caitlyn Haring to Katie Dockter who had gotten behind the Blue Jay's defense. Meanwhile the Bruins defense held the Jays in check for most of the half, and took a 36-20 lead into halftime. In the second, Meghan Roehrich again got called for 2 quick fouls and spent some time on the bench, and the Jays made some plays to stay in the game. But it seemed as though every time the Jays looked like they were going to get back in the game, the Bruins made a key basket. Jamestown cut the lead to 14 on a Kristi Meilke three point play, but on the next possession Alley Fisher knocked down a three pointer. Later the Jays had cut the lead to 14, but Katie Dockter came up huge with a tough basket off an inbounds lob play with 1 second on the shot clock, then Meghan Roehrich scored off an assist from Caitlyn Haring seconds later to push the lead back up to 18. South maintained that margin for most of the remaining game, and the result was the 16 point win. South placed 5 players in double figures in scoring, led by the 14 points of Haring. Katie Dockter provided a huge spark off the bench as she scored 12 points and led the Bruins with 8 rebounds. South will now play Mandan in the 1 PM game Friday.
