Bruins get first win of the season
Fargo South made marked improvement from game one to game two, and came away with a 44-32 win over Bismarck High on Saturday morning in the Bruin gym. With the first game jitters out of the way, South played more relaxed and under control throughout most of the game. South's defense controlled most of the first half, as they contested nearly every shot and didn't give up many rebound baskets or transition baskets and held Bismarck to just 10 first half points. On the offensive end, the Bruins got some great looks at the basket, but couldn't quite find the range, but on the strength of Katie Feltch's 8 first half points, South held a 27-10 halftime lead. In the second half, the Demons were able to knock down a few more shots and cut the lead to under ten points for most of the second half, but some key baskets by Raquel Wellentin stretched out the lead again, and South held on for the 44-32 win. Katie Feltch and Raquel Wellentin both scored 10 points for the Bruins who move to 1-1 on the season. Next action for the Bruins is Monday night when they host Jamestown.
