Bruins lock up EDC title
Fargo South jumped out to an 11-1 lead to start the game and never looked back in an 82-39 win over visiting Grand Forks Central on Tuesday night to open up a 2 game lead with 1 game to play, clinching the best record in the league. The Bruins were able to get their running game in gear, as Jasmine Moffett did a great job of getting down the floor for some easy transition baskets. Jasmine played tough inside as well, and finished the night with a game high 18 points, 14 of those coming in the first half. The Bruins first half also included a 17-0 run midway through the period which included three point plays by Moffett and Erica Everson. Raquel Wellentin also played her normal solid game, hitting for 8 first half points and grabbing 7 rebounds. At the half, the Bruins had built a 41-18 lead. The second half also saw some nice runs by the Bruins, as they pieced together a 9-0 run after the Knights had played some good basketball to get back within shouting distance at 54-31. Hi-lited in that run included a nice post up basket by Emily Livingood, a coast to coast drive for a hoop by Katie Felch, and a long three pointer by Lauryn Wilson. South put 4 players in double figures in the win. The Bruins improve to 15-3 overall and 14-1 in the EDC. South finishes up their season on Friday when they play at Shanley.
