Bruins get rare win at Red River
Fargo South played its best game of the season so far on Tuesday as they came away with a 63-38 win in the Rider gym. The Bruins had 3 girls shoot the ball well the entire game, as Raquel Wellentin, Amanda Schultz, and Emily Livingood combined to go 21 of 29 from the field, and all 3 girls hit double figures. South jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead and built the lead to 15 points at 24-9 with 5 minutes to play in the half. Unfortunately, as hot as the Bruins were from the field, they were equally as cold from the line, hitting only 3 of 13 freethrows in the half. South took a 30-18 lead into half. In the second, South extended the lead to 40-22 midway through the half, and put the game out of reach with a 10-1 run to finish the game. Raquel Wellentin went for 19 points and 9 rebounds, while Emily Livingood had 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. The win moves South to 1-0 in the league, and 3-2 overall. Next action for South is Friday when they host West Fargo.
