Bruins dominate in Valley City

Fargo South lived up to its #1 ranking and torched the Valley City Hi-Liners 101-24 on Thursday night in Valley City. The Bruins full court pressure was in full force early, as South jumped out to a 25-0 lead just 4 minutes into the game, most of the points coming off of steals and layups or freethrows. All 5 Bruin starters scored the game's first 8 points, but it was Siri Burck who was dropping in points early and often in the game's opening minutes. Siri, playing at the point of the press, was able to get her own steals and scores, and was also on the receiving end of some nice look-ahead passes from her teammates on her way to an 18 point opening half. After taking their big lead, the Bruins continued to play hard, but in the half court set from about the 12 minute mark of the first half on. Alley Fisher joined Siri Burck in double figures by halftime as she nailed a pair of three pointers in the half. By halftime, the Bruins led 58-15, had collected 18 steals in forcing 26 Hi-Liner turnovers, dished out 17 assists and grabbed 32 rebounds. After the break, South continued to pull away in a total team effort, as the South bench was responsible for 33 points in the game. The Bruins finished the night forcing 55 Hi-Liner turnovers. Siri Burck led South with 21 points, joined in double figures by Alley Fisher with 17 and Meghan Roehrich with 13. The win moves South to 5-0 in the EDC and 7-0 overall. Next action is Friday night when South hosts crosstown rival Fargo North at 6 PM.
