Bruins start East Region with a big win
Fargo South had a huge first half and cruised to an opening round victory over the wahpeton Huskies on Thursday afternoon, rolling to a 102-41 win. South's full court pressure caused 25 first half turnovers by the Huskies, and South converted those into 60 first half points. The Bruins also scored off of fast break baskets on Wahpeton missed shots as well, and by halftime, the Bruins had 4 players in double figures. South took a commanding 60-26 halftime lead. In the second half, the Bruins played all 15 players dressed and focused their attention on their halfcourt defense. That defense was also solid, as the Bruins allowed only 2 second half field goals. Katie Lee was a monster on the boards, seemingly grabbing every second half rebound, and posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards. The guard play was also stellar, as the Bruins found each other on the offensive sets for many easy hoops. Meghan Roehrich and Siri Burck both dropped in 20 points to lead the Bruins. South will play the winner of Red River/West Fargo in Friday's semifinals.
