Bruins ride Green Wave

Fargo South showed more signs of regaining their top form as they rolled over East Grand Forks, a 16 win team, on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Green Wave by an 81-37 score. The Bruins got out of the gate on fire as Alley Fisher hit a three pointer 9 seconds into the game, and then followed that up with a pair of steals and passes to Siri Burck for layups, making it 7-0 South just 44 seconds into the game, setting the tone for the entire night. The Bruins were able to find the range from downtown again for the second straight game, As Alley Fisher knocked down 2 more three pointers early on, and Siri Burck hit from three point land as well. The Bruins also got their running game in high gear. Raquel Wellentin and Jasmine Moffett were able to get down the floor in transition and were the recipients of some beautiful passing for some easy layups. Meghan Roehrich also showed her ability to get into the lane, scoring a number of driving baskets and getting to the freethrow line as well. The Bruins ability to put points on the board and contain the Green Wave's Chelsea Frydenlund allowed South to build a big lead, reaching 48-16 with 3 minutes left in the half. East Grand did chip away the last couple minutes to make it 48-23 at halftime to stay withing shouting distance, but South picked up the second half right where they left off the first half, scoring the first 9 points of the half and building a 57-23 2 minutes into the half. South got great contributions from all 7 varsity only players, something they will need as they gear up for post-season play. The Bruins put 3 players in double figures, led by the 22 points of Meghan Roehrich, followed closely by 20 from Siri Burck and 19 from Alley Fisher, who continued her hot shooting from beyond the arc, hitting 12 threes in the last 2 games from three point land. The win moves the Bruins to 14-3 on the season. Next action for South will be next Tuesday night at West Fargo, and then the Bruins finish up their regular season at home against Fargo North on Thursday. Thursday will also be parent/senior night.
