Fargo South falls to Shanley
The Jekyll and Hyde performances by Fargo South this season continued on Friday night, as 24 hours after coming off their best performance of the year, the Bruins struggled all game long and dropped a 62-34 game at Shanley. The Bruins could get no offense going to start things, scoring their first basket on an elbow shot by Allyson Friedt with over 6 minutes gone in the half, and did not score thier next points until there was under 8 minutes left on a Maddie Erickson driving basket. As bad as the offense was though, the Bruin defense was at least keeping the game within shouting distance, as that Erickson hoop made it a 15-4 game. But the Deacons found their offensive rhythm the last 6 minutes, and led 34-14 at halftime. At the half, South only had 4 field goals, 16 turnovers, and took only 17 shots. In the second half, the Bruins did manage to score the first 4 points on a pair of freethrows by Emily Stroup and a basket by Bria Taber to briefly show signs of life, but the Deacons had all the answers on this night, and pulled away for the final 28 point win. Maddie Erickson led the Bruins in scoring with 9 points. The loss drops South to 3-12 in the EDC. Next action for the Bruins is Monday night when they host Fargo Davies.
