Eagles down Bruins

Fargo South turned the ball over too many times to stay in the game on Friday night, dropping a 71-37 decision to the Davies Eagles in the Bruin gym. South had 5 turnovers in the first 83 seconds of the game, 10 in the first 5 minutes, and 19 at halftime, which made it difficult to stay with the 4th ranked team in the state. Adie Wagner scored on a driving basket and Emmerie Beyer hit a three pointer and South trailed just 10-5 3 minutes into the game, but Davies steadily pulled away from the Bruins, getting big scoring from Raegan Linster who South had trouble keeping track of all game long. Linster nearly equaled South's halftime scoring total by herself, dropping in 16 first half points, and the Eagles built a 41-17 halftime lead. The Bruins did play better in the second half, with Kierstenn Aguilar hitting a three off of some nice passing to start the half, and Brooklyn Klein scored inside on the next possession. South played solid for the first 6 minutes of the second half, and trailed 48-27 with 12 minutes left in the game, but the Bruins then hit a scoring drought which allowed the Eagles to stretch that lead out, and South could never mount any kind of rally after that. Adie Wagner led the Bruins with 10 points, while Anna Brakke continued her strong play on the boards, grabbing 11 rebounds, her 3rd straight game with double figure rebounds. Next action for the Bruins is Tuesday night when they travel up to Devils Lake.
