Tough start to second half leads to loss for Bruins

Fargo South played allright for 30 of the 36 game minutes on Thursday night, but the other six minutes spelled defeat for the Bruins as they fell 55-36 in Grand Forks to the Central Knights. In the first half, the Bruins half court defense played pretty solid. South kept the Knight offense in check, although the Knights did score on a number of transition baskets to help their cause. A putback basket by Naiya Karl right at the halftime buzzer made it a 21-14 Knight lead at halftime. However, the Bruins could not get anything going to start the second half, and Central was able to build up a 42-19 lead midway through the half. The Bruins finally got a few things to go their way over the last 10 minutes of the game as Emmerie Beyer hit Paige Schroeder on a nice pass that led to a three point play, and then hit a three pointer of her own the next time down the court to give South a spark. Adie Wagner was also able to knock down a pair of threes in the second half to help the Bruins. Paige Schroeder led the Bruins with 9 points, while Emmerie Beyer led South with 7 rebounds. Next action for South is Tuesday when they host Shanley.
