South ends season at Grand Forks Central

Fargo South built themselves a big hole, climbed back into it, then had to gamble but lost, in a season ending 71-43 loss at Grand Forks Central on Saturday afternoon. The Bruins ran into some hot shooting in the first half, including a career high 21 points from Amber Anderson. The Bruins fell behind by 20 at halftime, trailing 34-14. In the second half, South began to battle back, and was able to get the game back to managable. Adie Wagner, Emmerie Beyer, Kierstenn Aguilar, and Anna Brakke each hit threes in the second half and with 6 minutes to go in the game, the Bruins had cut the lead back to 53-40 and had a chance for one last gasp over the closing minutes. However, the gambles that the Bruins had to take did not pay off, and the senior dominated team of Grand Forks Central converted at every opportunity over the last few minutes to expand the lead out to 28. Adie Wagner led South with 14 points, the 12th time she has led South in scoring this season. The Bruins end the season at 1-21, but gained valuable experience over the course of the last 3 months and will look to improve over the off-season in into the 2017-18 season which starts in just 287 days.
