First road trip a problem for Bruins

Fargo South ran into the proverbial buzz saw on Thursday night in Wahpeton, dropping an 80-21 decision in the team's first road game of the season. The Bruins could not get anything going on either end of the court, giving up three pointers and inside baskets to the Huskies, and not getting very many looks at the basket on offense. Wahpeton rode that combination to a 24-0 start to the game, and led 30-1 with 6 minutes to go before halftime. Kierstenn Aguilar finally broke the ice and scored on a driving layup, and Adie Wagner hit a three pointer, but the Bruins trailed 34-8 at halftime. The second half wasn't a whole lot better, although South continued to play hard the whole game despite the score. Emmerie Beyer scored on a mid-range shot to make the score 54-20 with 10 minutes to play, but the Huskies then closed the game out on a 26-1 run for the final. Next action for South is Saturday night when they play at Sheyenne. Adie Wagner led South with 8 points.
