Fargo South trailed at halftime, but had a great second half that lifted them to a 59-50 win over Grand Forks Central in the Knights gym on Thursday night. The Bruins jumped out early, leading 8-2, but the game stayed tight after that. South held a 14-10 lead, but the Knights then went on a 10-0 run to take a 20-14 lead with just a few minutes to play before halftime. A nice turning point came though with the Bruins trailing 22-16 with 6 seconds left and the Bruins inbounding under the Knight basket. Adie Wagner threw a perfect full court pass to a flying Sami Hoselton who then converted the layup right before the halftime buzzer giving South some momentum heading into halftime. The Bruins carried that over to start the second half as they scored on a pair of three point plays, one by Hoselton and another by Paige Schroeder, and had a driving basket by Wagner and just like that it was 26-22 South and the Bruins did not trail again. Adie Wagner got things going in the second half as she nailed back to back three pointers to extend South's lead and also scored on a three point play to give the Bruins their first double digit lead at 48-37. The Knights stayed in it though and cut the lead to 48-42, but a basket by Ann Smith and a three pointer from Brynn Nelson with 3 minutes to play gave the Bruins a 55-44 lead and South held on for the final 59-50 win. Once again, it was a great team effort with everyone contributing. Wagner led everyone with 22 points, but also dished out 6 assists and had 5 steals in the game. Schroeder and Hoselton joined Adie in double figure scoring with 12 and 11 respectively. The win moves South to 4-3 on the year. They are right back in action on Friday night taking on Fargo Davies in the Eagles gym.
