Bruins ice cold shooting costly in loss

Fargo South played pretty good basketball for most of the game, but 26% shooting, which included a 12% effort from behind the three point line, and 40% freethrow shooting made it difficult for the Bruins to hang with the Deacons on Saturda afternoon in a 61-37 loss. South had their chances as they had a lot of clean looks at the basket throughout the half but very few went down. However the Bruins hung in there thanks to a pretty solid defensive effort against the much bigger Shanley team. The Bruins trailed 27-15 at halftime. It was more of the same in the second half though, as Shanley just kept slowly extending their lead. South never could get on any kind of a run, and in the last ten minutes of the game, their defense could not keep the Deacons away from the rim and they got a number of easy baskets coming down the stretch. Adie Wagner led South with 15 points and also grabbed 7 rebounds, tied for team high. During the course of the game, Adie's second three pointer of the night set a new South High record with 202 career three pointers, breaking the record of 201 set by Alley Fisher('11). South falls to 1-2 in the EDC and 2-2 overall. The Bruins close out their pre-break schedule with another road game at Valley City on Tuesday night.
