Bruins shine in win over Huskies

Fargo South put it all together on Thursday night as they fought their way to a 75-41 win over Wahpeton, improving to 2-1 on the year. Senior Sami Hoselton had a great night for South as she set the tone early with her tenacity and toughness. Sami's great night included 13 points, 8 rebounds, 7 steals, 4 blocked shot, 4 assists, numerous floor burns, and all while only having 1 turnover. The Bruin defense as a whole did a great job of holding down the Huskies for most of the game with the post rotation really doing a nice job of communicating the Wahpeton slides and the perimeter players did a great job of pressuring the ball all night. South held a 29-18 halftime lead. In the second half, Adie Wagner started to heat up on the offensive end, dropping in 19 points after the break to help the Bruins stretch their lead out. Every player did something positive for South - Brynn Nelson had probably her most consistant game ever, Paige Schroeder had a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds, Ann Smith had 10 points and some nifty rebounds, Alice Carlson dished out 7 assists, Laura Green hit a pair of threes, including a big one in the middle of a Bruin run, and Yvonnah Marshall played solid defense as part of the South post rotation. The Bruins ended the game with 18 steals and 17 assists and the energy level on the court and on the bench was just fantastic. South put 4 players in double figure scoring for the second time in three games, led by Wagner's 24. On a side note, Adie Wagner hit her 200th career three pointer, putting her just 1 three away from tying Alley Fisher's all time record of 201. Next action for South is Saturday afternoon when the Bruins take on Shanley in the Deacon gym at 1:15. Game streamed on Shanley TV.
