Tough stretch to end first half spells doom for Bruins

Fargo South did a lot of nice things through the opening 12 minutes of the game, but the remaining 6 minutes of the half was the difference in an 82-63 loss at home on Tuesday night to the West Fargo Packers. After falling behind 7-0 to start the game, South battled back to tie the game at 19-19 on an Adie Wagner pull up jumper in the lane with 8 minutes to go before half. Then with 6 minutes to go Brynn Nelson hit her second straight jumper to make it a 25-23 Packer lead and the Bruins had the ball with a chance to tie or take the lead, but couldn't convert. From there though the Bruins suffered a bad turnover streak, and the Packers finished the half on a 21-5 run and led the game 46-28 at halftime. In the second, the Bruins played decent defense to start the half in an effort to scratch back into the game, but could not score on their end and could not cut into the Packer lead. The inside game of the Packers was eventually too much for the Bruins to overcome. South was never able to mount a comeback run, and played out the half, losing by that 82-63 final. Sami Hoselton played a great all around game on defense and also hit double figures in scoring with 12 points, including a pair of three pointers. Wagner hit for 24 points to lead the Bruins in scoring. Next action for South is Thursday at Grand Forks Central.
