Fargo South was clicking in almost every aspect of the game in their season opener on Friday night, and rolled to a 68-30 win over the Oak Grove Grovers in the OG gym. South had double figure scoring from 4 different players, and also had 3 girls with a double-double, and another just narrowly miss a double-double in a great team effort. Junior Grace Hoselton provided a huge spark early for South, as she opened up the game with a steal and driving 3 point play to get things started right, but she brought the energy the entire game, with all 10 of her points coming in the opening half, and her hustle plays resulted in 10 rebounds for the game. On top of that, Grace had 8 steals and 6 assists, all while only having 1 turnover in a fantastic all-around effort. Teigan Malo also make life difficult for the Grovers, as she went for 19 points and 13 rebounds on 8-10 shooting from the field. Adie Wagner was the other Bruin with a double-double, hitting for 19 points and grabbing 10 boards, including 5 threes. Brynn Nelson also had a great all around game, dropping in 18 points, pulling down 9 rebounds, dishing out 5 assists, and making 4 steals. Hannah Carriveau, while not scoring a ton, provided steady play with 8 rebounds and a pair of steals. South also played great defense, controlling the tempo and really holding down the Grovers offensively with a lot of steals and tipped passes, and also controlled the glass, scooping up 54 total rebounds. The win moves South to 1-0 on the year, and the Bruins will open up conference play on the road at Grand Forks Central on Tuesday.
