Bruins crush Knights

Fargo South showed why they are the top ranked team in Class A basketball Thursday night with a dominating 67-29 victory over the Grand Forks Central Knights in the Bruin gym. The Bruins scored early and often in an up tempo style that kept the Knights reeling from the opening tip. The Bruins used fast break baskets, good passing, good perimeter shooting, and a dominating inside game to build a 13 point first quarter lead, then doubled that lead in the second quarter to take a 37-11 lead into the halftime locker room. Kristi Kilander and Tamar Elias led the first half charge with ten points apiece. The Bruins continued to pour it on in the second half, their offense picking apart the Knights defense for great looks at the basket. Through the first three quarters of the game, the Bruins were shooting nearly 70% from the field, making 25 of 36 field goals. Elias led the Bruins with 19 points while Kilander ended with 14. Renae Whitford led South with 6 rebounds. With the win, the Bruins improve to 13-0 in the conference and 12-1 overall. Next action for South is Saturday afternoon when they travel to Devils Lake in a two point contest.
