Bruins overpower Shanley in EDC clash
Fargo South found their offensive stride early and often against the visiting Shanley Deacons and defeated them soundly, 76-56. The Bruins rolled to 43 first half points, many caused by their ability to run the score and score effectively in transition. South jumped out to an early lead when Kristi Kilander scored numerous baskets inside and Colee Silovich turned four steals into baskets for the Bruins. South led 22-12 at the end of the first quarter. Tamar Elias sparked the second period scoring for the Bruins and had 14 first half points. The quicker Bruins frustrated the Deacons throughout the game with harassing defensive pressure that eventually wore down Shanley. The second half was more of the same for the Bruins, scoring in transition and playing scrappy defense. The Bruins placed 3 girls in double figures, led by Tamar Elias who had a season high 25 point, 7 rebound night. With the win, the Bruins improve to 4-1 overall, and 2-0 in the conference. Next action for South is Tuesday night when they travel to West Fargo to take on the defending state champs in their home gym.
